Today the wind blew south east, so we went to the North west part of Sant’Antioco Island: Calasetta. Calasetta is the second village on the Island, much smaller than the main one, Sant’Antioco. There are beatiful beaches there and that part is sheltered by south Winds (sooner or later i will write a post on winds and how to choose beaches on the Island accordingly, i promise). We chose Spiaggia Grande (wide Beach), a long strech of white sand fine Beach with sandy dunes and maritime pines on its back. In front the pretty Island of San Pietro (easily reachable by ferry boat from Calasetta port), dividing the two a tourquoise calm and cristalline sea. On the left the old tuna fish harbour (tonnara) where they used to process freshly caught tuna fish.
The Beach is both equipped and free and it is kids friendly. Please, enjoy a few pictures of it.
